Book Review: Accelerate
I just finished reading Accelerate, The Science of Lean Software and DevOps: Building and Scaling High Performing Technology Organiations. by Nicole Forsgren, Jez Humble, and Gene Kim, the same folks behind Project Phoenix, and The State of DevOps Reports. They provide data and stats to prove how DevOps can improve everything we do.
You dont just read this book. Rather, you reflect, and then re-read the chapter again, and discover even more relevant ideas to apply to your work.
The book was so good, that it was the source of a few posts of the last few weeks:
- Culture - the book defines was culture is, and how to improve it
- Conways Law - how our communication and org structures affect the systems we build
- Leadership - how good managers can improve software and org performance
- Architecture - making architecture matter
